Once again we are proud present our annual Roman Festival which will be held as usual on the Ribchester playing field opposite the main car park. This year two re-enactment societies will be mounting displays based on extensive contemporary historical and archaeological research. Meet the legionaries, cavalry and Roman citizens face to face as the Roman Military Research Society and Equistry march into Bremetenacum Veteranorum as Ribchester was known to the Romans. On show will be exciting military displays, including the firing of artillery, archery and the Roman cavalry displays, along with colourful demonstrations of everyday civilian life. There will be opportunities for children to dress up in Roman armour and our famous Roman snacks will be available.
